This year we have a two-artist booth featuring Peter Lyons and Kim Radochia. Kim will be joining Matthew Swift in the booth during the fair.

Works in the initial booth are shown in the first slideshow below. The second slideshows shows works that are at the fair but not on view in the booth. These may be possible to show in the booth on request with a day’s advance notice (we cannot bring art into the booth during show hours). We will modify these slideshows (when we can) if the work on view in the booth changes. For the most current information, contact the gallery.

NOTE: on this last day of the fair, Wingaersheek and American Milkshake are on view, and Friday, 5pm, Butterfly Weed, Joe Pye Weed, and September in Pozos, Mexico are not on view.

Matthew Swift Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition curated with the inspirations of dance, plant life, and Coleridge’s poem “The Eolian Harp,” responding to the collaboration between Boston Dance Theater and visual artist Kim Radochia which led to the premiere of a new performance piece entitled “Unfurling” at a special performance and reception on March 16th.

The Gallery will host a public reception in celebration of the artists participating in the exhibition on Saturday, April 6, 5–7pm.

One Life features new works by Kim Radochia and Peter Lyons, works by Debra Olin and Patton Blackwell not previously shown at Matthew Swift Gallery, and works by Winston Boyer, Gabrielle Barzaghi, and Aron Leaman. The Gallery is also very pleased to introduce two works of batik on silk by Mary Edna Fraser [The Gallery’s artist page for her will be created soon; meanwhile visit her home page directly.]

Boston Dance Theater (BDT), in partnership with Movement Arts Gloucester, Massachusetts (MAGMA) and Matthew Swift Gallery, will present a world premiere dance performance at MAGMA, followed by a reception at Matthew Swift Gallery.

The new work, as yet untitled, is the result of a collaboration between choreographer and BDT Director and Co-Founder Jessie Jeanne Stinnet and visual artist Kim Radochia, who is represented by Matthew Swift Gallery. BDT will also present selections from its Pinnacle Works program.

The reception at Matthew Swift Gallery will offer encore presentations, conversation with the artists, and drinks and hors d’oeuvres catered by Timothy Hopkins Catering.

Proceeds of this fundraising event will support BDT and its ongoing collaborations with MAGMA, where BDT has held summer residencies since 2018.

Boston Dance Theater is a young, ambitious contemporary dance company presenting works from some of the most sought-after choreographers in the world. They have performed at Jacob’s Pillow, ICA Boston, and national dance festivals, and they have held summer residencies at MAGMA since 2018. MAGMA and Matthew Swift Gallery admire BDT’s creative vision, high standards, and interest in intermedia performance. All three organizations are excited to welcome our guests to an extraordinary evening of collaboration between dance and the visual arts.

This 67th exhibition by Matthew Swift Gallery features new, recent, and vintage mixed media work by Susan Erony, Kim Radochia, Timothy Harney, Diane Ayott, Ken Riaf, Aron Leaman, and Michelle Samour. The gallery is very pleased also to include work by Dawn Southworth for the first time.

This is a comparatively short exhibition, during which the Gallery will be open for extended hours.

Reports of the Director’s demise in a bizarre gardening accident have been exaggerated. The hiatus at the Gallery’s Main Street location since mid-January was due to a major construction project in the building, trips to art fairs in Miami and West Palm Beach, and the work of moving back in, all of which inevitably required more effort and time than foreseen.

We have a great show for you, and we welcome you back to our classy Main Street gallery space, our home now for more than ten years.
