We’re still hoping to see Zuckerberg and Musk battle in the octagon. Meanwhile, Matthew Swift Gallery is pleased to present MMA 67, featuring your favorite mixed media artists squaring off in an aggregate of rectangles.

This 67th exhibition by Matthew Swift Gallery features new, recent, and vintage mixed media work by Susan Erony, Kim Radochia, Timothy Harney, Diane Ayott, Ken Riaf, Aron Leaman, and Michelle Samour. The gallery is very pleased also to include work by Dawn Southworth for the first time.

This is a comparatively short exhibition, during which the Gallery will be open for extended hours.

Explicit Color

Matthew Swift Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of 22 paintings and sculptures chosen for the centrality of color in the work. The exhibition’s title reflects the fact that many of the titles of individual works refer explicitly to colors within them. Other titles refer indirectly to colors, and still others lack explicit titles but repay explicit attention to the dimension of color, whether bold or subtle.

This exhibition features work by Peter Lyons, Zygmund Jankowski, Diane Ayott, Gabrielle Barzaghi, Susan Erony, Timothy Harney, Ruth Mordecai, Ed Touchette, and Aron Leaman, and the Gallery is very pleased to introduced ceramic sculptures by Gloucester artist Andy Matlow.

The Gallery will host a reception in celebration of the artists participating in the exhibition on Saturday, July 9, 5–7pm.

The exhibition’s title is an abstraction of the title of the 1994 book Driven to Distraction by Drs. Edward Hallowell and John Ratey.

The gallery introduces a new name, Matthew Swift Gallery; a new exhibition format, a group exhibition of individual treasures; and the work of four artists not previously shown by Trident Gallery, Milton Derr, Timothy Harney, Keith McDaniel, and Jeffrey Marshall. The exhibition includes work made 1961–2019.

It’s not a showy start to the next six years — new signs are in progress, and I’ve been too busy putting this together to stop to tell you about it — but I am very pleased to introduce a truly excellent selection of new works of art to you, which will be on view through September 15.

16 works of art, 15 of which I have not shown before.
13 artists, 4 of whom I have not shown before.
3 works from the 1970s, and one likely earlier.
Large and small; from $1,200 to $23,000.

Trident Gallery exhibited at the 2018 SCOPE Miami Beach art fair. Trident’s booth juxtaposed the bold designs and vivid colors in major works by Peter Lyons, Diane Ayott, Gabrielle Barzaghi, and Ed Touchette, with the monochromatic and muted palettes of Susan Erony‘s sophisticated, textured mixed-media paintings.
