Joe Poirier
Poirier paints scenes of Gloucester in a style lonely and reverent. He renders light in the scene with a precision that evokes a particular moment in which the ordinary has become beautiful — a moment that will soon pass, because light like this does not last. This ephemeral light and the absence of people together create a sense of anticipation and prompt the viewer to supply a narrative for the moment.
