We are moving
December 1, 2025 – July 1, 2026
In early 2025, Matthew Swift Gallery had to move its Annex Facility unexpectedly, on short notice. Moving our large quantity of art, supplies, furniture, and tools was difficult and time-consuming, but we had the good fortune to find a suitable new space just a few blocks away on Sargent Street in Gloucester.
In late 2025, the Gallery moved out of the Main Street location it had occupied for more than 12 years. Our options were to buy the space as a commercial condominium or move out, and we chose the latter. We anticipated this move for more than a year, and we planned to consolidate operations in the Annex Facility, which we had occupied and adapted to our needs for more than eight years. Now we would need to start again from the beginning in a very different space.
We’ve been working for months to adapt and to adapt to our Sargent Street space. As summer approaches, we are close to ready to open a section of it as an exhibition space open to the public, as we had previsouly planned to do at the Annex. Please look for announcements on this website and in our email newsletter.
Until then, we arrange viewings by appointment
- of inventory at Sargent Street,
- of an exhibition of 26 paintings by Peter Lyons at the Gallery’s former Main Street location,* and
- of anything at your location.
* Courtesy of the building’s owner, while the space remains for sale.
