DESCRIPTION:Note: This exhibition has been extended through Sunday\, November 8\, 2020. \nMatthew Swift Gallery is pleased to present 21 new paintings by Ruth Mordecai in which she continues to generate and employ a vocabulary of symbols evoking the promise of shared humanity and culture. From 12″ square to 5’ x 7′ in size\, the new paintings on paper and canvas possess richly-textured and often collaged surfaces\, suggesting layers of personal and cultural memory informing the present moment. Acknowledging sources in prayer and dream\, she has entitled many of the paintings simply “The Sign.”
