DESCRIPTION:Tall ShipGabrielle Barzaghi2016\, pastel on paper\, 50 x 38 in. \nMatthew Swift Gallery is pleased to announce that curator Judith Tolnick Champa has included works by Susan Erony and Gabrielle Barzaghi in the exhibition ReSeeding the City: Ethnobotany in the Urban\, which will be on view the Rhode Island State House October 26 – November 27\, 2019. \nFrom the press release:“From handmade paper crafted of local waste plant fibers expressing the changing nature of Providence’s rivers … to a knitted\, and then felted wall hanging interpreting the thickly built city as a setting and a subject … the goal of the exhibition ReSeeding the City and its attendant community forum is to expose and explore a range of responses to the often contending forces of people and plants in the urban setting. In the special dual project of contemporary art exhibition and community forum\, we ask afresh how forces of nature and urban life may productively align.” \nThe exhibition features the work of twenty emerging and established artists based in Providence and throughout New England. \nGrowthSusan Erony2018\, pencil\, burnt paper\, and acrylic on paper; 44 x 30 in.
